HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -Chaisson Allen scored 17 points to help Northeastern hold off James Madison's second-half rally attempt in a 60-55 win on Saturday.
The Huskies (4-4, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association) took a 37-20 lead with 15:36 left in the game on a jumper by Manny Adako, who finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
The Dukes (4-4, 0-1) outscored Northeastern 18-4 over a five minute span to cut the margin to four points. Kyle Swantson, who finished with a game-high 18 points, scored nine points during Northeastern's spurt.
James Madison trimmed the lead to 46-44 with 5:39 remaining on a Julius Wells' jumper, then Swantson followed with a 3-pointer to give the Dukes their first lead of game. But the Huskies reclaimed the lead on Allen's three-point play with 4:56 to play, as Northeastern would not trail again.
Matt Jennings scored 14 points for Northeastern.
