HOUSTON (AP) -Cory Pflieger scored 28 points and Rodney Foster added 21 points and seven rebounds to lead Rice to a 100-94 victory over Texas State on Saturday.
Foster helped fend off the Bobcats with six free throws and a rebound late in the game.
Bryan Beasley and Lawrence Ghoram each scored 13 points for Rice (3-5).
John Rybak kept Texas State (3-4) close in the first half with six 3-pointers and 24 points but couldn't keep it up the rest of the way.
Rybak had 32 points and 10 rebounds. Brent Benson and Brandon Bush were the two other players to reach double figures for the Bobcats with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
