MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) -Anthony Johnson scored 16 points and Jordan Hasquet added 13 as Montana defeated Texas-Arlington 67-65 in non-conference basketball action Saturday night.
The Griz (5-4) overcame a seven-point second-half deficit to win the championship of the inaugural Karl Tyler Chevrolet Classic.
Montana led 67-65 in the final minute before turning the ball over to the Mavericks (4-3) with 15.5 seconds remaining. UTA got the ball to Anthony Vereen, who missed the initial shot. The carom was batted toward the basket several times before Hasquet came up with the rebound to end the game.
Vereen scored 27 points, Marquez Haynes added 20 and Roge'r Guignard had 16 more as three players scored all but two of UTA's points.
Johnson earned tournament MVP honors.
