INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -David Nurse scored 21 points and David DuBois added 18, including six straight in the final minutes, to lift Western Illinois over IUPUI 58-48 Saturday.
After Robert Glenn of IUPUI (5-3, 0-1 Summit) hit a layup to tie the game at 46 with 3:38 left, DuBois responded with a three-point play and a 3-pointer to give the Leathernecks (3-5, 1-0) the lead for good.
Nurse hit all six of his free throws in the final minute down the stretch to clinch the victory. Nurse also made 5-of-11 3-pointers.
Glenn led IUPUI with 17 points and Alex Young added 12. Billy Pettiford and Robert Nobles of the Jaguars each had a game-high 10 rebounds.
Western had 11 steals - six by Ceola Clark - among 17 IUPUI turnovers that led to 18 points for the visitors.
The loss snapped IUPUI's 19-game home winning streak, the nation's eighth longest.
