HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -Preston Brown had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead Sam Houston State past Jarvis Christian 69-60 on Saturday night.
Brown was 6-of-8 from the field and 6-of-8 on free throws for the Bearkats (4-5), while DeLuis Ramirez scored 12 points and Ashton Mitchell added 10 points and eight assists. Ramirez had two blocks, two assists and two steals.
Mitchell Johnson led Jarvis Christian (6-3) with 12 points, and David Green added 10. Deveon Johnson had eight points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Sam Houston State led by at least four points throughout the second half, but Jarvis Christian missed two 3-pointers in the final 2 1/2 minutes that would have made it a two-point game.
