BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -Anatoly Bose scored 16 points to lead Nicholls State to a 64-58 victory over Southern University on Saturday.
Fred Hunter added 14 points for the Colonels (4-3), who held off the Jaguars (0-7) in the final four minutes.
Nicholls State led 57-48 with 4:11 left before Southern's Chris Davis hit consecutive baskets and Geri Guillory made a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 57-55 with 2:40 remaining.
The Colonels, however, went on a 6-0 run to increase their advantage to 63-55 with 21 seconds left.
Nicholls State shot only 52.9 percent from the free throw line (9 of 17) but shot 45 percent from the 3-point line (9 of 20).
Davis and Guillory led Southern with 12 points each. Douglas Scott had 11 rebounds for the Jaguars.
