SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -Spencer Laurie led a late Missouri State rally to defeat Norfolk State 75-66 in the opening round of the Basketball Travelers Tip-Off Tournament.
The win for Missouri State (6-3) on Saturday overshadowed a scoring performance by Corey Lyons and Michael Deloach of Norfolk State (1-7) who combined to score 56 of their team's 66 points. Lyons finished with 32, including 7 of 14 from the 3-point line and Deloach added 24.
Missouri State led 55-54 on a basket by Wade Knapp with 11:25 left but didn't score another field goal for more than seven minutes.
Norfolk State, which trailed 41-38 at halftime, went up 64-60 on two free throws by Deloach with 6:20 left.
Laurie then scored eight of Missouri State's next 10 points to give his team a 70-66 lead with 1:41 left.
Knapp led Missouri State with 18 points. Laurie finished with 15 and Chris Cooks had 13 points and 10 assists.
