MIAMI (AP) -Domonic Tilford scored 23 points and had nine rebounds to lead South Alabama to a 62-57 victory over Florida International on Saturday night.
Tilford was the only player in double figures for the Jaguars (7-5, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference).
South Alabama led 43-30 with 14:35 remaining, but Freddy Asprilla scored five consecutive points to spark Florida International (4-8, 0-2), which cut the lead to 48-44 with 10:18 left in the game.
The Jaguars led 53-52 before going on a 6-0 run for a 59-52 lead with 4:45 remaining.
Michael Dominguez led the Panthers with 17 points. Asprilla scored 16 points and had 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double.
Florida International, which has lost four consecutive games, committed 20 turnovers.
