KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Omar Johnson scored 10 of his 17 points in the closing minutes to give Texas-San Antonio a 76-72 win over Missouri-Kansas City on Monday night.
Johnson, a 5-foot-7-inch redshirt junior, had two driving layups and made 6-of-8 free throws in the last five minutes. He also had a game-high eight-assists for the Roadrunners (4-4).
Dane Brumagin was the lone Kangaroo in double figures with 26 points. Fred Ford had eight rebounds for UMKC (5-9).
Texas-San Antonio was leading 71-70 when Johnson scored on a layup with 45 seconds remaining. He hit two free throws at the 16-second mark and another free throw with 11 seconds left to put the game out of reach.
The Roadrunners also got 15 points from Demarco Stepter, 13 from Devin Gibson and 12 from Morris Smith IV.
