FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -Stefan Welsh scored a career-high 27 points and Arkansas took advantage of 29 turnovers to cruise to a 95-56 win Saturday over Northwestern State.
Welsh returned to the starting lineup after coming off the bench the past two games and responded by eclipsing his previous best of 24 points. The junior knocked down 8-of-13 shots from the field, including 6-of-8 from beyond the 3-point line.
The Razorbacks (9-1) fell behind 8-2 in the early minutes, but took control of the game with a 15-2 run featuring turnovers forced by their defense. Welsh contributed 6 of the 15 points in the run.
Arkansas forced 20 turnovers in the first half, scored 25 off the mistakes and built a 54-25 halftime lead. For the full game, the Razorbacks outscored Northwestern Louisiana 37-14 off turnovers.
Point guard Courtney Fortson scored 18 points and Marcus Britt added 15 for the Razorbacks, who won their seventh straight.
Devin White led Northwestern State (8-5) with 18 points. Damon Jones scored 12.
