ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) -Erik Kangas scored 20 points and Keith Benson added 19 on Wednesday to help Oakland to an 86-81 victory over South Dakota State.
The Golden Grizzlies (9-7, 2-1 Summit League) had a 63-45 lead midway through the second half but allowed the Jackrabbits (6-9, 1-2) to stay in the game. They got as close as 75-71 with 2 minutes to play, but Kangas made a deep 3-pointer to give Oakland some breathing room.
Benson also grabbed nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, who outscored the Jackrabbits 40-22 in the post. Drew Maynard added 14 points and Will Hudson and Dan Waterstradt had 10 points each.
Garrett Callahan scored 23 and Anthony Cordova had 17 for South Dakota State, which has lost five of six road games.
