WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -Ryan Hare scored 18 points and had a game-high eight rebounds to lead Southern Illinois over Wichita State 74-62 on Wednesday night.
Hare went 10-for-10 at the free throw line as the Salukis (6-9, 1-3 Missouri Valley) picked up their first conference win. All five Southern Illinois starters finished with at least 12 points, including Carlton Fay with 15.
Wichita State (6-9, 0-4) was led by J.T. Durley's career-high 19 points. Toure Murry was the only other Shocker in double figures, with 10 points.
The Salukis led from start to finish, going up 35-25 at halftime. But Wichita State made it competitive midway through the second period, hitting four 3-pointers to pull within 56-55.
Bryan Mullins answered with a 3-pointer for Southern Illinois that put the game out of reach for the Shockers.
