LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) -Ryan Thompson's free throw with 3.3 seconds left to play gave Rider a 70-69 win over Iona on Sunday.
Iona's Scott Machado had made a layup with 5.4 seconds left to tie the score at 69-69, but Milan Prodanovic then fouled Thompson on Rider's subsequent possession. Thompson then missed his first free throw before making the second for the win.
Thompson finished with a game-high 19 points for the Broncs (9-6, 4-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), while Harris Mansell had 16 points and Novar Gadson came off the bench to add 10 points and pull down nine rebounds.
Machado finished with 17 points and seven rebounds for the Gaels (7-10, 2-4), while Jonathan Huffman scored 15 points and Trinity Fields added 10.
