DURHAM, N.H. (AP) -Tyrece Gibbs scored 22 points and New Hampshire went on a 24-7 run at the end of the first half and beginning of the second to beat Maryland-Baltimore County 65-47 Wednesday night.
Trailing 19-14, New Hampshire (6-8, 2-1 America East) outscored the Retrievers 13-5 in the final 10 minutes of the half for a 27-24 intermission lead. Then the Wildcats opened the second half with a 11-2 run, and UMBC never recovered.
Darryl Proctor had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead UMBC (7-8, 1-2). Jay Greene added 11 points.
New Hampshire hit 13 of 23 field goal attempts in the second half to pull away while the Retrievers hit only 8 of 23. New Hampshire also controlled the boards, 39-23 for the game.
