CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) -Kevin Palmer scored 21 points and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi defeated Texas State 89-64 Wednesday night.

Shamar Coombs and Tim Green each scored 15 for the Islanders (8-9, 2-0 Southland Conference). Marcus Hammonds had a double-double off the bench with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Horace Bond had nine points and 12 rebounds.

Ty Gough led Texas State (8-7, 1-1) with 15 points.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi led 46-26 at the half.
