CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) -Jay Greene scored 17 points, Darryl Proctor added 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Maryland-Baltimore County beat Hartford 69-60 on Saturday night.
Matt Spadafora had 15 points and six assists, while Chauncey Gilliam and Rich Flemming each scored 10 points for the Retrievers (8-8, 2-2 America East Conference). Greene hit a season-high five 3-pointers for UMBC, which won despite going 12-for-20 from the free-throw line.
Morgan Sabia led Hartford (6-12, 2-2) with 18 points. Michael Turner had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks, who have dropped three of four games.
Consecutive 3-pointers by Turner and Andres Torres pulled Hartford within 41-39 with 15:15 remaining. Spadafora responded with a jumper from the foul line, igniting an 18-6 UMBC run.
Flemming had eight points during the burst, capping it with a steal and a layup for a 59-45 lead.
