BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Gary Springer scored 16 points, six in double overtime, leading Iona to a 78-77 win over Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action Saturday.
Frank Turner missed a free throw with eight second left in double overtime, leaving Canisius (6-12, 1-7) down by one at 76-75. Iona's Milan Prodanovic then made two free throws with 6.4 seconds left, giving the Gaels (9-10, 4-4) a three-point edge.
On the final possession of the game Turner drove the length of the court, past the 3-point line and hit a two-point field goal with three tenths of a second remaining.
Jonathan Huffman hit a deep 3-pointer for Iona with 18.6 seconds left in the first overtime to force a second. Scott Machado finished with 12 points for the Gaels. Devon Clarke had 11.
Turner scored 23 points for Canisius, while Greg Logins added 17.
