HOUSTON (AP) -Garrison Johnson scored 28 points to lead Jackson State to a 76-63 victory against Texas Southern on Saturday night.
Jackson State (5-12, 4-1 Southwestern Athletic) won for the fourth time in five conference games after getting just one non-conference victory.
Johnson was 9-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, and 7-of-8 on free throws. His 3-pointer with 14:31 remaining in the game punctuated a 13-2 run that gave Jackson State a 49-32 lead.
Texas Southern (1-16, 1-3) was led by Jacques Jones with 15 points. Matthew Miller added 12.
Grant Maxey had 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds for Jackson State.
