LORMAN, Miss. (AP) -Troy Jackson scored 23 points as Alcorn State beat Mississippi Valley State 88-72 on Saturday night.
Jackson shot 8-for-14 for the Braves (3-15, 1-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference), he and was 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Anthony Ford had 21 points, while JaMarkus Holt added 19 points and nine rebounds.
Alcorn State snapped a nine-game losing streak with the victory. The Braves shot 55.8 percent from the field (29-for-52) and 78.1 percent from the free-throw line (25-for-32).
The Delta Devils (1-16, 1-3) were led by Shannon Behling, who finished with 19 points and six rebounds. Dwayne Harmason and Tashan Newsome scored 10 points apiece.
MVSU outrebounded Alcorn State 36-26, but committed 14 turnovers. They shot 39.3 percent from the field (24-for-61) and only 58.3 percent from the free-throw line (14-for-24).
