HOUSTON (AP) -Jermaine Taylor scored 20 points and Tony Davis had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Central Florida past Rice 77-52 on Saturday.
Taylor and Davis combined for all the points during a 14-0 run that turned a 42-42 tie into a 56-42 lead for the Knights (11-6, 1-2 Conference USA) with 10:29 remaining in the game. Davis started the spurt with consecutive 3-pointers, then Taylor sandwiched two more 3s around a jumper.
Connor Frizzelle was the only double-figure scorer for the Owls (6-11, 1-2) with 14 points. Tied 30-30 at halftime, Rice shot just 19 percent (5-of-26) in the second half compared to 61 percent (19-of-31) for UCF.
Kenrick Zondervan scored 12 points for UCF, and A.J. Rompza had seven points, six assists and three steals.
