NEWARK, Del. (AP) -Alphonso Dawson scored 20 points and Delaware defeated William & Mary 71-62 on Saturday.
The Blue Hens (8-11, 2-5 Colonial Athletic Association) have won 11 straight games over the Tribe (6-11, 1-6) and 14 of their last 15 meetings.
Delaware never trailed after the opening five minutes, but the Tribe kept the game close much of the contest. William & Mary scored the first five points of the second half, tying the score at 31-31 on Danny Sumner's 3-pointer with 17:43 remaining.
The Blue Hens led 55-51 with 4:58 left as they ran off eight straight points to put the game out of reach. Dawson scored six of those points as the Hens pushed their advantage to 63-51 with 2:29 remaining.
Jawan Carter scored 16 points and Marc Egerson had 12 for Delaware.
Quinn McDowell scored 15 points for the Tribe and Sumner and Chris Darnell added 10 apiece.
