CLARKESVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Drake Reed scored 29 points to lead Austin Peay over Jacksonville State 86-80 on Saturday night.
Reed also grabbed eight rebounds and shot 11-for-14 from the free-throw line for the Governors(12-7, 8-1 Ohio Valley Conference). Wes Channels chipped in with 22 points.
Reed's layup with 3:10 remaining in the second half gave Austin Peay an 85-67 lead. But the Gamecocks (8-10, 2-7) responded with a 13-0 run, cutting the Governors' lead to 85-80 after Jonathan Toles' 3-pointer with 25 seconds left in the game.
Austin Peay's James Harris was then fouled, and made only one of two free-throw attempts. John Barnes of Jacksonville State missed a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left that would have cut the lead to three.
The Gamecocks were led by Jeremy Bynum, who scored 21. Toles finished with 20 points, and Nick Murphy and Geddes Robinson scored 14 each.
