NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Matthew Dotson scored a career-high 27 points to lead Belmont to a 75-66 victory over Kennesaw State on Saturday night.
Dotson, a senior, was 10 of 14 from the field and hit three 3-pointers to become the ninth Bruin to eclipse 1,000 career points.
Belmont (11-7, 7-2 Atlantic Sun Conference), which entered the game leading the conference in 3-point percentage, hit just 4 of its 15 attempts, the fewest 3-pointers the Bruins have made in a game since Jan. 20, 2007.
Kurtis Woods, who led the Owls (6-11, 2-6) with 20 points, hit two free throws to cut Belmont's lead to 58-55 with 5:06 left in the game.
The Bruins built the lead to 65-55 on Andy Wicke's 3-pointer with 3:15 remaining.
Alex Renfroe added 14 points for the Bruins.
Spencer Dixon scored 12 points and Jon-Michael Nickerson added 11 for Kennesaw State.
