SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) -Jay Brown scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Lamar to a 71-65 victory over Texas State on Saturday.

Brandon McThay scored 14 points for the Cardinals (11-7, 2-3 Southland), and Ashton Hall added 13. Only two players scored in double figures for the Bobcats (8-10, 1-4), but Cameron Johnson turned in a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds while John Rybak scored 13.

Brandon Bush had 10 rebounds to go along with seven points.
