WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) -Freshman guard Julian Simmons hit a pair of free throws with 6.6 seconds remaining to cap a 6-0 Army run, and the Black Knights beat Lafayette 57-56 on Wednesday night.
Army (6-13, 2-3) has now won two straight games for the first time this season. Lafayette (6-14, 2-4) suffered its third straight defeat.
Simmons finished with a season-high 20 points and Cleveland Richard added 16.
Michael Gruner led the Leopards with 12 points, all in the first half, and Ryan Willen had 10.
Armys final six points came from the foul line as the Black Knights went the final 2:45 without a field goal, overcoming a 56-51 deficit in the final two minutes.
Lafayette's Andrew Brown watched his 13-foot leaner glance off the front of the rim as time expired.
