FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) -Jacques Streeter had 17 rebounds, five rebounds and four assists to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 58-52 victory over UC Riverside on Saturday night.
Josh Akognon, eighth nationally in scoring, added 15 points for the Titans (11-10, 5-4 Big West), who have won three consecutive games and five of their past seven.
Kyle Austin had 18 points and a career-high 10 rebounds for the Highlanders (11-9, 3-5), who have lost five of seven. Brandon Dowdy added 10 points and Aaron Scott grabbed 10 rebounds.
Riverside held a 34-27 lead with 18:44 to play but Akognon scored 10 points during a 17-4 spree that put Fullerton ahead 44-38 with 8:25 remaining. Marcio Lassiter passed for five assists during the surge.
The Highlanders narrowed their deficit to 54-52 with 32 seconds left but Akognon and Lassiter each made two free throws in the final 16.9 seconds to secure the victory.
The Titans made 10 of 19 shots in the second half after missing 23 of 32 in the first half.
