SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) -Josh Jenkins scored 18 points and had seven assists as Cal State Northridge defeated Cal Poly 79-68 Saturday night.
Rodrigue Mels added 16 points, Kenny Daniels 12 and Tremaine Townsend 10 as the Matadors improved to 9-10 for the season and 6-3 in Big West games.
Cal Poly, led by Chaz Thomas' season-high 24 points, fell to 5-13 and 2-6.
Cal State Northridge, which scored the final eight points of the first half for a 35-28 advantage at halftime, outscored Cal Poly 15-5 to open the second half and never looked back.
Rodrigue capped the run with a conventional three-point play for a 50-33 advantage with 17:42 to play.
Cal State Northridge hit 53 percent of its floor shots (27 of 51), including seven of 13 from three-point range. Cal Poly was held to 37 percent field goal percentage (23 of 63), including just eight of 31 three-pointers.
