WASHINGTON (AP) -Paul Kirkpatrick hit Howard's only two overtime field goals and gave the Bison the lead for good with a late slam dunk in a 77-74 victory over North Carolina A&T on Saturday.
Kirkpatrick scored six of his eight points in overtime, sealing the win with two free throws after North Carolina A&T's Tavarus Alston missed a 30-footer with 5 seconds left.
Eugene Myatt and Kile Riley added 16 points each for Howard (4-16, 3-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which snapped a two-game losing streak.
Nicholas Wilson scored 21 points for the Aggies (8-13, 2-5), who lost their second straight road game. Ed Jones added 19 points and Robert Johnson scored 14, including a 3-pointer with 14 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 68 and force overtime.
The teams then traded the lead four times before Kirkpatrick's contested dunk with 10 seconds left.
