HAMPTON, Va. (AP) -Michael Deloach scored 22 points and Norfolk State rallied from an 11-point deficit to defeat Hampton 68-62 on Saturday night, winning its fifth straight game.
The Spartans (8-11, 5-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) trailed 40-29 early in the second half, then used an 11-0 run to tie the score at 40-40 with 14:05 left.
The Pirates (10-10, 4-3) rebuilt their lead to 50-43, but a 14-4 Norfolk State surge - capped by Deloach's 3-pointer - gave the Spartans the lead for good in the game known as the Battle of the Bay.
In the second half, Norfolk State was 9 of 22 from the field (40.9 percent), while Hampton made only 6 of 26 shots (23.1 percent).
Corey Lyons added 17 points for the Spartans, going 1-of-7 from the field and 14-of-17 from the free-throw line.
Vincent Simpson led the Pirates with 17 points and Kwame Morgan had 15.
