ELON, N.C. (AP) -Kellen Brand scored 29 points to lead Appalachian State to a 77-63 victory over Elon on Saturday.
Brand went 12 of 13 from the free-throw line and the Mountaineers (10-12, 7-7 Southern Conference) outrebounded the Phoenix (7-14, 4-9) 41-19 to sweep the season series.
Brand, who missed his career high of 31 points set last month against Western Carolina, had 16 points in the first half as Appalachian State took a 39-29 lead.
Elon cut the lead to 41-38 with 17:36 left in the game, but the Mountaineers went on an 11-2 run for a 52-40 lead with 11:47 remaining.
A.J. Highsmith's 3-pointer gave the Mountaineers a 64-46 lead with 7:39 remaining.
Josh Hunter had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Highsmith finished with 11 points for the Mountaineers.
Josh Bonney scored 12 points and Devan Carter added 10 points for Elon.
