MIAMI (AP) -Alex Galindo scored 23 points and hit a key 3-pointer in overtime to give Florida International a 80-76 win over Arkansas State on Saturday night.
With the scored tied at 74-74, Galindo hit a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left in overtime, giving Florida International (10-16, 5-8 Sun Belt Conference) the last lead it would need.
Jose Soto then hit two free throws with 13 seconds left before Arkansas State's Eric McKinney scored a layup for the final basket.
The Red Wolves (13-10, 5-7) led 32-16 at halftime, as Florida International shot 25 percent in the first half (6 of 24). The Golden Panthers hit 76.5 percent from the free-throw line in the second half (13 of 17).
Soto added 16 points for the Golden Panthers and Tremayne Russell chipped in 11.
McKinney scored 19 points and Donald Boone added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Red Wolves.
