ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Reid Augst scored all 19 of his points in the second half and set a school record for 3-point shooting by going 5-for-5 in North Carolina-Asheville's 80-71 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday night.
Augst also became the 24th Bulldogs player to surpass 1,000 career points. He now has 1,008.
The Bulldogs (11-13, 7-6 Big South Conference), coming off a 103-95 victory at league leader VMI on Monday, fell behind 18-6 in the first half.
UNC Asheville rallied to lead 30-28 at intermission as the Buccaneers (7-15, 2-9) made only 3 of 11 free throws in the first half.
Augst scored 13 points in an 18-5 spurt to open the second half and the Bulldogs led by 17 with 8:37 left.
Matt Dickey added 15 points, followed by John Williams with 14, J.P. Primm with 13 and Sean Smith with 10.
Jamarco Warren led the Buccaneers with 20 points.
