SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -Dana Smith scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help Longwood beat Savannah State 68-64 on Saturday.
Kevin Swecker also had 18 points for the Lancers (13-10), who have won six games in a row. Longwood trailed 29-27 at halftime and went down by four points to start the second half on a jumper by Savannah State's Raye Bailey.
But the Lancers never trailed again, as Longwood shot 48.3 percent from the floor (23-for-52) compared to the Tigers' 38.5 percent (20-for-54) in the second half.
Longwood outscored Savannah State 13-6 for more than three minutes to claim a 64-58 lead on Durann Neil's jumper with 4:53 left. Anthony Jones scored on layup with 26 seconds left for Savannah State (12-12) to cut the lead to 66-64, but Smith followed with two free throws to put the game away for Longwood.
Chris Linton led the Tigers with 14 points.
