COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Kenneth Faried scored 23 points and had 19 rebounds to lead Morehead State to a 72-64 victory over Tennessee Tech on Saturday night.
Faried, who entered leading the Ohio Valley Conference in rebounding with 12.4 a game, also went 8 of 11 from the field as the Eagles (14-11, 10-3) remained in first place in the conference.
Faried's layup gave Morehead State a 61-59 lead with 4:29 remaining in the game. He followed that with a dunk and then Maze Stallworth hit a layup for a 65-59 lead with 3:37 left.
Frank Davis hit a 3-pointer as Tennessee Tech (11-12, 5-7) closed to 65-62 with 2:40 remaining, but Morehead State iced it by hitting all seven of its free throws in the final 44 seconds.
Stallworth and Leon Buchanan scored 16 points each for Morehead State.
Will Barnes scored 19 and Davis added 14 points for Tennessee Tech.
