HOUSTON (AP) -Aubrey Coleman scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Houston to a 72-65 win over crosstown rival Rice on Saturday night.
Coleman was 8 of 18 from the field and 11 of 12 from the free-throw line. Kelvin Lewis added 13 points and Qa'rraan Calhoun had 12 for the Cougars (14-7, 5-3 Conference USA).
Rodney Foster scored 20 points to lead Rice. Trey Stanton added 13 points and Aleks Perka scored 10 for the Owls (7-15, 2-6).
Marcus Cousin had 10 rebounds for Houston, which outrebounded Rice 42-33.
Houston led 31-28 at the half.
