HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -Charles Jenkins scored 24 points and Nathaniel Lester added a career-high 21 to lead Hofstra to a 71-68 victory over Towson on Saturday, the Tigers' ninth loss in 10 games.
Greg Washington hit a 15-foot jumper with 30 seconds left to break the game's final tie. After Josh Thornton of Towson was short with a 3-point attempt with 4 seconds left, Lester added a free throw.
Jenkins broke out of a shooting slump to go 7-for-13 from the field for the Pride (15-9, 7-6 Colonial Athletic Association). Lester, who averages 5.0 points, picked up the slack when Jenkins left the game with four fouls with 15:57 left. Lester then scored 13 of Hofstra's next 15 points.
Junior Hairston had 23 points for Towson (8-17, 3-10), which led by as many as 12 points in the first half.
