IRVINE, Calif. (AP) -Chris Devine had 19 points with five rebounds to lead UC Santa Barbara to a 65-56 victory over host UC Irvine on Saturday.
Devine scored six consecutive baskets in the final 3:20 to put the game away. His final basket was a 12-footer to beat the shot clock with 32.6 seconds left in the game to give Santa Barbara (9-13, 3-7 Big West) a 62-56 lead.
Will Brew, Jr. added 14 points for Santa Barbara. Brew hit a three-pointer with 9:11 left in the game to give Santa Barbara a 46-45 lead. The Gauchos outscored Irvine 19-11 for the rest of the game.
The Anteaters (8-14, 5-5) led by as much as 10 points in the first half. The closest Irvine could get was 50-49 with 6:24 left when Eric Wise hit a short jumper.
