KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Fred Ford hit a twisting layup with six-tenths of a second left to give Missouri-Kansas City a 61-59 win over Centenary on Thursday night.
Centenary's Anthony Gatlin had tied the game with a long 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining.
Ford then drove the lane for only his second field-goal attempt of the night. The freshman guard finished with four points, the other two on free throws.
The victory broke an eight-game losing streak for the Kangaroos (7-20, 3-11 Summit League). Bakari Ford led UMKC with 14 points, while Trey McKinney-Jones had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Chase Adams scored a game-high 15 points for Centenary (7-20, 5-10), which stretched its losing streak to six. Gatlin and David Perez added 12 points each for the Gents.
