ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)Jerel Hastings scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Tim Ambrose scored 27 to lead Albany past Maine 80-69 on Sunday in America East basketball.
The Great Danes (14-13, 6-8) used a 22-8 run to erase Maine's 54-50 lead midway through the second half.
Junior Bernal scored 16 points for the Black Bears (9-18, 4-10). Sean McNally and Troy Barnies added 15 apiece.
The Great Danes closed the first half on a 10-0 run, including a follow-up dunk by Mike Johnson, to take a 35-34 lead into the break. Brian Connelly added 15 points as Albany broke a five-game losing streak.
The win over a fellow middle-of-the-pack team helped Albany in its attempt to avoid the play-in game when it hosts the America East tournament next month.
