RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) -Freshman walk-on David Chavarria drew an an over-the-back call and hit two crucial free throws to lead UC Riverside past Cal State Fullerton 63-60 Thursday.
Kyle Austin paced the Highlanders with 21 points and 10 rebounds and Sean Cunningham added a trio of late steals for Riverside (16-10, 7-6 Big West Conference).
The Titans (13-15, 7-8) trailed by five at halftime, but Jacques Streeter scored six straight points and picked up one steal to put Fullerton up 35-34. Fullerton extended the lead to six before Riverside rallied for the win.
Josh Akognon paced the Titans with 19 points and Aaron Thompson added 18.
