BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -Anthony Cordova scored 16 points and Garrett Callahan and Chad White each added 14 as South Dakota State defeated Mayville State 89-56 Monday night.
Cordova shot 8 of 13 from the field and also had six rebounds in just 17 minutes for the Jackrabbits (2-0).
Anton Coleman led Mayville State, an NAIA school, with 14 points.
The game was close for the first 12 1/2 minutes, but then South Dakota State went on a 20-4 run to grab control and a 40-22 advantage. It led 42-26 at halftime and led by as many as 35 in the second half.
The Jackrabbits forced 23 turnovers.
