FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -Billy White scored 22 points, including the go-ahead free throws with 19.5 seconds remaining, as San Diego State held off Fresno State 62-58 on Monday night in the West Coast Classic.
Tyrone Shelley added 17 points for the Aztecs (3-1), capped by two free throws with 2.9 seconds left that clinched the victory.
Greg Smith led the Bulldogs (2-2) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Ladd added 14 points.
Neither team led by more than four points in a hotly contested second half.
Before his go-ahead free throws, White tied the score 56-56 by sneaking behind Fresno State's zone for a putback following a missed 3-pointer with 1:59 left.
The Bulldogs led 29-25 at halftime thanks in large part to Ladd's hot shooting. Ladd scored 11 of the Bulldogs' first 16 points, including three 3-pointers.
