OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -Kenny Lawson Jr. scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading Creighton to a 67-61 victory over Nebraska on Sunday.

Creighton (3-4) broke a three-game losing streak with the win in the meeting of the state's only Division I basketball programs. Nebraska (5-2) leads the all-time series 24-19.

Lawson had 17 points in the second half, including four free throws that turned a 46-43 deficit into a 47-46 lead that the Bluejays never relinquished.

Cavel Witter added 13 points for Creighton.

Lance Jeter scored 12 points and Sek Henry and Ray Gallegos had 10 apiece for the Huskers, who committed 20 turnovers.

After Jeter's 3-pointer pulled the Huskers within 59-57, Lawson stuffed an alley-oop pass from P'Allen Stinnett with 2:08 left.

That was Lawson's last field goal, but he wasn't done working. He pulled down big rebounds on three of the Huskers' next possessions to help the Bluejays protect their lead.

Creighton came into the game averaging almost nine 3-pointers a game, but hit just 1 of 10 from long range on Sunday. The Bluejays made up for it with a 26-9 advantage on free throws and by outrebounding the Huskers 31-25.

Creighton used a 13-0 run to build a double-digit lead in the first half. Nebraska's Quincy Hankins-Cole shut down Lawson for a five-minute stretch, and the Huskers rolled off 13 of the next 15 points to lead 22-21.

Antoine Young's driving layup at the buzzer put Creighton up 32-27 at halftime.
