  •

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -Carlon Brown scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half, leading Utah on a late 9-0 run that clinched the Utes' 68-52 victory over Michigan on Wednesday night.

Freshman Marshall Henderson scored a career-high 22 points and David Foster finished with 10 points, five blocks and six rebounds for the Utes (5-4), who overcame turnovers with rebounding and defense for their second straight win.

Utah outrebounded Michigan 41-25 and held the Wolverines (4-4) under 30 percent shooting in the second half.

Manny Harris had 25 points to lead Michigan, which has lost four of five since opening the season 3-0.

DeShawn Sims added 10 points for Michigan and was the only other Wolverines player to score in double figures.

Harris was also Michigan's leading rebounder with just six as the Utes dominated inside, outscoring the Wolverines 38-16 in the paint and pulling down more defensive boards (29) than Michigan had in total rebounds.

Utah went 14-for-24 from the field in the second half while holding Michigan to eight field goals on 28 shots in the final 20 minutes.

Utah fans in the student section celebrated in the final minute by chanting "Just like football!" - referring to the Utes' win at Michigan to open the 2008 season.

Luka Drca had 11 points and six assists for Utah.

The Wolverines were able to get within a point late in the second half before Utah broke it open with nine straight points. Harris hit a 3-pointer to cut Utah's lead to 55-51, but the Utes took off from there. Foster banked in a jumper, Brown hit a 3-pointer and then stole the ball and took it for a layup through traffic that put Utah up 62-51 with 3:44 left in the game.

It was Utah's largest lead and Foster followed that with a layup with 3:13 to go, increasing the run to 9-0.

The Utes had pulled away at the end of the first half with a 12-6 run to end the period. Kim Tillie converted two three-point plays during the run and Jay Watkins added an exclamation dunk to give the Utes a 35-27 lead at halftime. The Utes outrebounded the Wolverines 22-9 and outscored Michigan 18-8 in the paint.
