DAVIS, Calif. (AP) -Mark Payne scored a career-high 28 points and UC Davis cruised to an 89-53 victory Whittier on Wednesday night.
Joe Harden had 10 points and 12 rebounds and Dominic Calegari added 13 points for the Aggies (4-8).
Drew Menez scored 17 points and David Hayashi added 15 for the Poets (4-4), who have lost four straight.
The game was tied 17-all until the Aggies took control with a 22-0 run, capped by Payne's basket with 4:07 to play in the first half.
The Poets ended their scoring drought with a free throw with 3:14 left but then failed to score again the rest of the half.
The Aggies led 45-18 at intermission and by as many as 44 points in the second half.
