SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Karl Cochran scored 19 points and Wofford got off to a fast start, beating Emory & Henry 70-55 on Sunday.
Cochran shot 7-for-15, grabbed three rebounds and had three steals in the win. Drew Crowell scored 10 points and Lee Skinner added 12 for the Terriers in their season opener. Crowell and Skinner had seven rebounds apiece.
Wofford hit 14 of 15 free throws compared to just 7 of 12 for Emory & Henry. The Wasps outrebounded Wofford 36-32 but the Terriers blocked six shots, recorded 13 steals and forced 17 turnovers.
Wofford shot 46 percent (26 of 57) while Emory & Henry managed just 38 percent (21 of 55) from the field.
Malcolm Green led Emory & Henry, tallying 15 points and four rebounds. Tyler Mullins scored 13 points for the Emory & Henry but was the only other Wasp player to score more than six points.
