SAN DIEGO (AP) - Xavier Thames scored 12 points, including the game-winning basket with 1.8 seconds remaining, to give San Diego State a 56-54 victory over USC on Thursday night.
Maurice Jones banked in a long three-pointer to tie the game at 54-54 with 6.8 seconds to go.
Thames took the inbounds pass and dribbled the length of the floor to score on a layup.
Jamaal Franklin scored 14 points to lead San Diego State (4-1), which played its fifth game in seven days.
Jones led USC (1-2) with 15 points, and Garrett Jackson added 13.
