UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Kent Bazemore came off the bench to score 23 points and grab nine rebounds as Old Dominion beat South Florida 68-66 Saturday in overtime in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament.

Bazemore, whose time has been limited after foot surgery in August, scored 16 points after halftime for the Monarchs (3-1), who trailed for much of the game.

Dimitri Batten added 12 points and Chris Cooper had 10 for Old Dominion, which won its third straight after a season-opening loss to Northern Iowa.

Augustus Gilchrist scored 18 points and Victor Rudd Jr. had 16 for South Florida (3-1), which had its chances in overtime.

But Gilchrist missed a turnaround in the lane with 6 seconds left and Rudd's desperation half-court shot at the overtime buzzer bounced off the rim.

South Florida led most of the second half before a 3-pointer from Bazemore put Old Dominion ahead with 6:10 left in the game, part of a 15-4 that gave the Monarchs a 56-51 lead with just over 4 1/2 minutes left in regulation.

It was 62-60 Old Dominion when Blake Nash drove the baseline for South Florida but was tied up by Bazemore under the basket and turned the ball over with 35 seconds left.

South Florida waited until there were just 13 seconds left before fouling Bazemore. But he missed the first free throw, and Shaun Noriega hit a 3-pointer with 5 seconds remaining to tie the game at 63 and send it into overtime.

Gilchrist hit a bucket to put the Bulls up 65-63, but that would be South Florida's only field goal in overtime.

Trian Iliadis tied it with a driving layup and the Monarch's took the lead for good on two free throws from Bazemore with 52 seconds left.

After Nick Wright fouled out with 33 seconds left, Nash missed his second free throw.

De Lancey missed two on the other end, giving the Bulls a chance at the win.

But Gilchrist missed his turnaround and De Lancey hit one of two foul shots, leading to Rudd's heave at the buzzer that just missed.

South Florida opened the game on a 15-4 run, capped by a jumper from Gilchrist.

But the Bulls had just one field goal over the next 10 minutes and the Monarchs fought their way back.

Down 20-14, Old Dominion went on a 10-0 run and stretched the lead to 27-22 on a 3-pointer by Batten.

The Bulls regrouped and outscored the Monarchs 14-5 to close the half. Nash, who had six points during the run, made a putback at the halftime buzzer and South Florida went into intermission up 36-32.

South Florida has not opened a season 4-0 since 2006-07.

Old Dominion now has a 17-11 series lead over South Florida, a former league rival in the Sun Belt Conference.
