MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) - Devon Lamb tied his career high with 23 points and Anthony Miles added 18 as Lamar defeated Tennessee-Martin 80-69 on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals (3-2) shot 60.9 percent (28 of 46) in the game, including 71.4 percent (15 of 21) in the second half. Lamb, a senior guard, made 9 of 10 shots.
Mike Liabo scored 20 points to lead the Skyhawks (1-4), who shot 53.6 percent (15 of 28) in the second half to remain within striking distance until Lamar began to pad its lead at the free-throw line in the final minute.
Miles scored five points during an 8-0 first-half run that gave Lamar a 30-25 lead after it had trailed 25-22 with 6:03 left.
After leading 34-29 at halftime, the Cardinals stretched their lead to 54-44 with 11:33 to play on a steal and dunk by Charlie Harper, who had 13 points.
