BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Cameron Moore scored 22 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to pace UAB to a 71-59 victory over Troy on Tuesday night.
Moore, a 6-foot-10 senior forward, made 7 of 13 shots from the field as the Blazers (1-2), an NCAA Tournament team last season, got their first win after opening with losses to Creighton and Murray State.
Moore also blocked four shots, after blocking seven in each of UAB's first two games.
Jekore Tyler, Preston Purifoy and Ovie Soko added 11 points each for the Blazers. Soko also had 10 rebounds.
Tyler and Purifoy each hit a 3-pointer during a 10-0 run that gave UAB a 50-42 lead with 10:44 remaining. Tyler had seven points during that run.
R.J. Scott scored 17 points and Justin Wright 14 to pace the Trojans (1-3), who have lost their last 12 road games against nonconference opponents.
